Brenda Kelly began her career in yoga after several years of training under, good friend and guru, Krystal Hennager. She received her yoga teacher certifications through AAAI-ISMA; and numerous hours of specialized yoga training certifications through Yoga International. She is also trained and certified in adult and child CPR and how to properly use an AED to administer help in an emergency.
Her teaching skills incorporate movement with the breath, with focus on ujjayi pranayama (victorious breath or ocean breath). This type of deep breathing, in and out through the nose, helps to create and maintain internal heat in the body. This heat benefits the muscles and helps to increase flexibility. This controlled breathing also helps boost the focusing power of the mind and concentration.
Brenda's classes range from restorative yoga (beginner) to power yoga (advanced). Most of her classes include a warm up & centering, deep stretching, vinyasa flow, asanas (yoga poses), balancing, and a cool-down period of relaxation and mindful meditation. She recognizes that not every person is made the same, and we are each on our own individual journey. Classes are designed around the needs of the participants, with tools, such as blocks and straps, available as needed.
